🛑 STOP modeling decisions as a flow or process.
Decisions are not steps.
In process modeling, “next” gives meaning.
In decision modeling, “next” is meaningless.
Decisions are structures containing logic, dependencies, and context.
When a decision becomes ready for execution:
🔹Its inputs are available
🔹Its dependencies are resolved
🔹Underlying logic are executed by dependencies
Model the decision, not the path.
You may ask…
What's wrong if you use flow or process?
⭕ Hard to update
⭕ Loss of knowledge and context
⭕ Incomplete or incorrect modeling
⭕ Loser of reengineering opportunities
⭕ No support for dynamic, situation-aware decisions
Decision models shouldn't be treated as process flows.
Why?
Because…
✔️ They are resolved by dependency.
✔️ Decisions are not ordered by sequence.
